Sign Ups for the Fall Book Exchange 2.0

Hello everyone! And welcome to the Fall Book Exchange 2.0! I'm glad to see all the returning participants (as well, I hope, some new ones!). I'm also please to announce that I have a co-host for these exchanges: the lurvley Amanda from Letters Inside Out. Welcome, Amanda! If you don't already know Amanda, make sure you stop by her gorgeous blog to say hello!

Now, on to the really important, really juicy stuff.

The Rules of the Exchange:

First, here's a little refresher on how things will work: Each participant will link to at least one wishlist with a collection of titles they'd like to receive from their Santa. Names will be thrown in a virtual hat and drawn so that each person will have a Fall Santa who will give them a book, and a Fall Santee they will give to. Fall Santas will choose titles from their Santee's wishlist(s). We want to be clear: Everyone who signs up will both give and receive. Sounds like fun? Yeah, we thought so too.

Here are the rules:
  1. You do not have to be a book blogger to participate. Everyone's welcome!
  2. International participants are welcome, too, anywhere that the Book Depository ships. Please be aware, when you sign up, that you may be assigned an international santee.
  3. You will need wishlist in order to participate. Where you keep your wishlist--on Goodreads, Amazon, or your blog--is up to you and you will be able to link to two wishlists in the form. If you need help setting up a wishlist, email me and we'll help you figure it out. Amanda may be a technical genius, but Ruby is definitely not.
  4. PLEASE NOTE: Fall Santas (FSs--) will chose TWO books from your wishlist for a total of around $18-20. If you want one book for that price, it's up to you--let your FS know. Also remember that the Book Depository has free shipping. You should not be spending half of your $18-$20 on shipping. This was an issue during the last exchange, and some people felt they didn't get a fair exchange.
  5. Pre-ordered items are acceptable ONLY if this is agreed upon by both parties.
  6. You may purchase your books from whatever source you choose, but please do not send used books. Ebooks must be okayed with the santee before purchasing.
  7. Once santas and santees are assigned, addresses will be exchanged between individuals. If you're not comfortable with this, please do not sign up.
  8. Sign ups begin on September 22, and end on October 22. This is a bit different from the usual, since the Summer Book Exchange 2.0 began late this year.
  9. After you send the books to your santee, you must fill out the tracking information form I will provide for you.
  10. To join the exchange, you must fill out THIS form. It is also included at the end of this post.
We would highly appreciate it if, after signing up, you would grab the button below and put it in your sidebar. It's not required, but it would help to spread the word. If you want write up a post announcing your participation, that would be even fawesomer. We're not giving out any details yet, but there just may be a giveaway for those that help with publicity. Yes, we know we like to tease...

Still got questions? Remember, there's a special Ruby's Reads Book Exchanges email address now. And we have a twitter account. Make sure you follow us so you're up-to-date on all important FBE2.0 announcements! Our email and Twitter follow buttons are on the sidebar.

Thanks!

Summer Book Exchange Publicity Contest

So, have you signed up for the Summer Book Exchange?
No?
Well, what are you waiting for?

Ruby's reads
Click on the image to sign up!
Oh, I get it. You're waiting for incentive.

Well, here's some:

I'm hosting a contest. What better way to use the extra books I snagged at BEA? What I'm looking for, specifically, is help getting the word out about the Summer Book Exchange 2.0. If you're interested in helping out--and I know there are some awesome people who are willing to do this out of the goodness of their hearts--then you'll be eligible to win a copy of:
(It's awesome, btw.)
What kind of publicity am I talking about? Here are some ideas:
  • You could do a Waiting on Wednesday (or On My Wishlist, etc.) post highlighting some books you hope to get in the exchange.
  • It could just be a straight-up informational post saying, "Hey guys, have you heard of the Summer Book Exchange at Ruby's Reads?"
  • You could make a list outlining the reasons participating in a book exchange is good for the soul.
  • You could write up a post outlining the awesome time you've had participating in previous exchanges.
  • Be creative!
More specifically, here's the deal (also known as the rules):
  1. The contest is open until sign ups for the exchange close (June 30). The winner will be chosen during the following week, and will have 48 hours to respond or I will choose a new winner.
  2. To be eligible, you must do the following:
    1. Sign up for the exchange.
    2. Post about the Summer Book Exchange 2.0 on your blog. This post must include the event button (above, and in the sidebar), and a link to the sign-up post.
  3. If you host a giveaway as incentive for people to sign up, you double your chances of winning.
  4. To enter the contest, please fill out THIS form.
That's it! We always have a lot of fun with the exchange, and many people make new friends and meet new bloggers. Even if you don't want to help out with publicity, I highly encourage people to sign up anyway! Remember...books are the best gifts...

Welcome to The *Official* Blog of the Ruby's Reads Book Exchanges!

Check me out! I'm all official-like! I've finally created a blog for my seasonal book exchanges! This summer marks a full year of the exchanges--and I'm excited to celebrate the anniversary with a new blog.
In addition to a blog solely devoted to the Ruby's Reads Book Exchanges, I've also opened an email account. In the future, if you have any questions, comments or concerns related to a book exchange, contact me at:
On to the fun stuff!

Rules of the exchange:

First, here's a little refresher on how things will work: Each participant will link to at least one wishlist with a collection of titles they'd like to receive from their Santa. Names will be thrown in a virtual hat and drawn so that each person will have a Spring Santa who will give them a book, and a Spring Santee they will give to. Spring Santas will choose titles from their Santee's wishlist(s). I want to be clear: Everyone who signs up will both give and receive. Sounds like fun? Yeah, I thought so too.
If you need help setting up a wishlist, email me and I'll help you figure it out. Though I am by no means a technical genius.
  4. PLEASE NOTE: Summer Santas (SSs--) will chose TWO books from your wishlist for a total of around $18-20. If you want one book for that price, it's up to you--let your SS know.
  8. Sign ups begin on June 11, and end on June 30. This is a bit different from the usual, since I didn't have time to begin the exchange on the actual first day of summer (June 20).
  9. After you send the books to your santee, you must fill out the tracking information form I will provide for you.
  10. To join the exchange, you must fill out THIS form.
I would highly appreciate it if, after signing up, you would grab the button below and put it in your sidebar. I tried to size it so it'd fit, but let me know if you have trouble. It's not required, but it would help to spread the word. If you want write up a post announcing your participation, that would be even awesomer. Definitely leave me a link if you do, and I'll make sure to stop by and thank you!
